The almost forced introduction that automotive brands have made of electric models is quite similar to another forced introduction to consumers of another product that came into the market with great fanfare and making us believe that they are 100% green and the saviors of the planet, when in reality they are just the opposite. The other product that came to make the air more breathable, clean the oceans and make the early bread more crunchy, are the famous reusable bags. Both products are 100% the same when it comes to their introduction to the market, that is, a forced one for both, since as is known there are several countries that have imposed deadlines to stop selling combustion vehicles and with bags, today it is It is impossible to use any bag other than the reusable one. When you go to the supermarket (try putting 6 liters of boxed milk in a paper bag, or a couple of ice packs without it collapsing).
In both cases, to us idiots from the respectable public, they sold and are selling both as if they had magically appeared in our hands, in the case of bags or sitting behind the wheel in the case of cars, trucks and such, without measuring the carbon footprints generated in the manufacturing of these. It seems that for certain products there is a treatment of the carbon footprint generated, but for other products is totally different. In the case of reusable bags this footprint is created by calculating the number of turns or uses that must be given to the famous bag. The bag that has the least environmental impact or in another words is greener is OH!!......what a surprise!, precisely the one we stopped using, in fact the number of turns required to accomplish neutral carbon footprint are between 2 and 4. One when you take it out brand new from the supermarket, and another when he used it to put garbage in the polyethylene bag (real name to be more precise), and we learned that it turns out that producing this bag is the least polluting in the entire production chain, which is why it reached our hands with a really low footprint, hence the number between 2 and 4 of subsequent turns, (we will always talk about turns), and they are also 100% recyclable. Now...we have to be honest....It's not that we are only now finding out about this information.....This has been known since day 1 when disposable bags were taken off the market...even before in fact. Now recycling these bags is a real hassle. The disposable ones are the ones that pollute the least and are 100% recyclable...period.
Which one is next?...one that people massively tend to associate with a very green product...and they are right, given that they are biodegradable and consequently easily recyclable...and that's is all that are good for. All these good thing about them goes to (trumpet blast) , turu..purum...pum...pum: Paper bags!!! These bags use up to 4 times more energy in their production than the polyethylene one mentioned above... in fact (I hope you're sitting down) it takes 43 turns or uses of this beauty of a bag to become neutral. The big problem with paper bags is that it is rarely possible to use them more than 1 or 2 times since they tend to break more easily, especially when they are wet.
The next on this damn list is the reusable bag that we are all using in the supermarket and stores worldwide and which created massive incomes to them and A LOT!, since we kept (I still do) forgetting them at home, which leads us to buy another and another and another. Let's get straight to the point with these bags: 131 times, and when you forget one of the 100 reusable bags you already have, and have to add the 101st, it does little to help the environment. I personally think that the big problems of this type of bag have are: the loops, and the material from which they are made, since it is not recyclable, it is not even useful to make a bathtub stopper.
Last but not least, the cotton bag... that pretty, fluttery, half-hippie one... This one is the worst villain...the Bane to Batman of this list, and before I tell you how many laps, or turns, I suggest that you get on your back on the floor, I really don´t want you to break the chair you are sitting and hurt yourself and end up in the ER of any hospital. Well...here it goes: 7,100 times….yeah...you read fine: Seven Thousand One Hundred Times correctly.
